Welcome to Barks and Bones!

We at Barks and Bones have always been dog lovers and around dogs all our lives. We have two fur kids of our own, Nanook and Cody, Alaskan Malamutes that we adopted from IAMRA (Illinois Alaskan Malamute Rescue Association) where we are members and active rescuers. After we adopted Cody, we soon found out (in not a very pleasant way) that Cody has IBD (irritable bowel disorder). With a trip to the Vet ER Clinic, we now know how bad of a reaction some pets can have to certain foods and preservatives added to pet foods and treats. Quickly we had to educate ourselves on dog food products, treats, bones and rawhide. Shocked at the number of preservatives that are added to dog treats led us to start looking for recipes to bake our own treats for the dogs. After changing Cody’s pet food, some research and education, Cody no longer has to suffer from the effects of IBD. We created this website to provide homemade dog treats to pet owners who not only need to feed their fur kids treats with no preservatives, but who want the best to keep their dogs healthily.

As we all know, our dogs are not just pets but are members of our family!

Barks and Bones treats have no added salt, sugar and are preservative FREE. All products made from human grade ingredients purchased from local health food store or local grocery store.
